Lisa Lapwing

Lisa has always been interested in body movement. As a child, she participated in dance, swimming and gymnastics. At the age of 15 she began lifting weights after a knee injury. She then went on to excel at martial arts becoming a black belt in Tai Kwon Do at 22. That same year, inspired by her personal movement experiences, she became a Certified Personal Trainer. Later, she explored boxing and Mixed Martial Arts.

Inspired after seeing Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, she found Blue Lapis Light in Austin, Texas. Always the determined and astute student she quickly moved up through the class levels and later received her teacher certification from the New England Center for Circus Arts (NECCA), recognized as one of the top schools for aerial arts. Wanting to expand her repertoire beyond aerial silks, she has since trained on lyra, straps, hammock, trapeze and rope with fellow aerial artists at Sky Candy in Austin, The Vault in Houston, as well as Trapeze Las Vegas.

With what little spare time Lisa has left between Ascent, Whole Health Acupuncture, and training, she can be found decompressing by tending to her numerous succulents and cacti while keeping a watchful eye on her mischievous house cats Mega 2, Grey Bean and Maisie.

Jean Devlin

Jean found her passion for the performing arts in high school through her involvement with Ars Nova Winterguard. During her time with Ars Nova, she trained in ballet and modern dance and performed in competitions offered through the North Texas Color Guard Association and Winter Guard International. In college, she continued to study movement forms such as ballet, modern dance, contact improvisation, and yoga while maintaining her studies in Ecosystem Science and Management. Jean was first introduced to aerial dance in 2015 when she won a series of classes at Blue Lapis Light through a charity event at her local yoga studio. She has since studied under experienced aerial artists at Blue Lapis Light, Sky Candy, and The Muse in Brooklyn, New York. Jean has experience performing on aerial silks and harness and likes to explore movement on lyra. Outside of her time with Ascent, Jean works as a Natural Resource Specialist, enjoys teaching yoga, and is proudly pursuing her Yoga Therapy certification through Yoga Yoga.

Aleksandra Misovic

Aleks has always had passion for athletics. She figured skated from ages five to fifteen. It ingrained a love for performing and flying.  From there she moved on to throw shot and discus for track, play soccer, softball, volleyball, and weight train for several years. In order to continue training and remain active, she took Tae Kwon Do and Judo classes, but realized she missed the feeling of performing and flying, so she found a new love with silks at SOKOL Greater Cleveland, where she worked with incredible teachers and became immersed in the aerial community. It was the perfect combination of strength training and performance art, so she continued with Blue Lapis Light after moving to Texas where her love of the craft has only continued to grow.

Aleks has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration and Leadership and outside of Ascent, she seeks to further her education and skills and work with some of her favorite charities. Otherwise, she loves getting lost in a good book, cooking, and catching up with family.

Benjamin Gonzales

As an Austin native working in the music industry since 2002 and acting as a project engineer for a local commercial design-build audio-visual company since 2007, Benny utilizes his A/V experience as Technical Director for Ascent. With a background in programming unique, custom, highly sophisticated themed-entertainment shows and attractions, Benny hopes to enhance and compliment each performance through the synchronization of audio, lighting, and projection.

When not consumed by the pale glow of a computer screen, Benny can be found on the greenbelt hiking with his wife to a secluded spot to enjoy a craft beer from their meager beer cellar.
